How do I restore Windows XP ZIP file association?

Windows XP natively supports ZIP files.  However, uninstalling a third-party compression application does not always restore the ZIP file association.

Here are some things to try:

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Run
3. Type in CMD
4. Click on OK
5. In the Command Prompt type in the following: REGSVR32 ZIPFLDR.DLL

If that does not resolve the problem, try the following:

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Run
3. Type in cmd /c assoc .zip=CompressedFolder
4. Click on OK
